Open Invitation to the FIFTH Season of Zimmer Silhouetten! 2017-2018

Before we start, I need to thank my good friend Mike Norris, that has volunteered to help with the scoring of the targets.
Without his help an encouragement, I wouldn't have closed the 2016-2017 season.
Hopefully, working as a team we will do a much better job!

Because here in New England we have particularly tough winters, we decided to launch an E-Mail Postal match between friends. Things took off and we have had participation from Argentina, Austria, Chile, Mexico, USA and Spain. Perhaps more shooters will join.

Last four years we had a ton of fun with the Postal Winter Silhouette League.
Per popular request, this winter we will shoot it again!
Rules and dates are set down below, the only change now in force is a time limit of 2½ minutes per bank of animals (row of 5 silhouettes), and results will be posted in this website, as we did in the previous four seasons.
We will keep previous years' scores so that everyone can see if they improved, or if they need even more practice.  ;-)

Hope that it will be fun, practical, entertaining and useful to all those that participate.
A little introduction:

Like the full sized game of Mexican Metallic Silhouettes, this short range version is basically an offhand shooting game.

It is shot at 6 or 10 meters (there are targets further down for both distances), and it is an almost exact match to the full sized game as regards scores. It may LOOK easy, but until you try it, you will never know how hard it is to shoot at non-circular targets from the standing position with no jacket, no sling, no glove, nor any other shooting aid.
Keeping in line with actual silhouette competitions, the time limit for each "bank" (row of 5 silhouettes), is 2½ minutes.

This is what the 10 meter target should look like. The line at the base of the Rams measures exactly 23.5 cms. If you can print this target in such a way that the aforesaid line measures "true". Then you have a valid target.
To save our friends some trouble, here is a link to a .PDF file for the 10 M Target . Your .PDF reader program may interpret the fonts differently, so do not worry too much, just make sure that the line under the Rams measures 23.5 cms.

The 6 Meter target looks somewhat different:

Again, the sizes of the silhouettes are not scaled down geometrically, but they take into account the size of the pellet to make the game equally as challenging as the full sized games, which is why you can ONLY shoot this Match with 0.177"cal. guns. You can download a .PDF file of the 6M target here if you can make the line under the Rams to measure 14.3 cms when printing, you're good to go. Again, your .PDF reader might interpret the fonts differently, just make sure that the lines under the Rams measures what they need to.
NOTE TO PISTOL SHOOTERS:
You can shoot the SAME targets with pistol, but at 2/3rds the distance:
The 10 M target is shot at 6.6 / 6.7 meters, the 6M target is shot at 4M.
Same scoring, same 40 rounds shoot per date.
OFFHAND PISTOL POSITION ONLY! Like Std. Olympic pistol, or "Duelling" position. One hand hold.
For the winter of 2017-2018 cards must be scanned and EMailed on or before these dates (all Tuesdays):

Dec 12
Dec 26
Jan 9
Jan 23
Feb 6
Feb 20
Mar 6

Only 6 of these dates will count for final score. So you can miss one date and still have all the scores needed to compete.

The shot targets need to be scanned (.PDF or .JPG) and Emailed to:

ZimmerSilhouetten@yahoo.com

on, or before, the limit date. You can shoot the target(s) any day before, just not after. You can shoot as many targets as you want during the two weeks that span one date to the next one, but you can only send in ONE target for score. Make sure you fill out your name and the gun/pellet combo you were using.

So, join in the fun and practice to be a better standing/offhand shot. You've got nothing to loose!

;-)

Results will be posted in a sub-page to this tab.

Welcome to the wonderful world of non-circular targets! LOL!
